who we are meet the team Dick Oosting Dick Oosting is a Trustee at Asylos. He has many years of experience working in human rights, starting in the 1970s when he coordinated Amnesty International’s first worldwide campaign against torture. After serving five years as Amnesty’s Deputy Secretary General he returned to the Netherlands in 1982 to be the first director of its Dutch national section. From 1987 he successively headed a child protection agency, the Dutch Refugee Council, and moved back to Amnesty to lead its EU work in Brussels. In 2008 he joined the International Center for Transitional Justice to manage the Europe division with programmes inter alia in the former Yugoslavia and Afghanistan. From 2010-2016 he was CEO of the European Council on Foreign Relations, of which he remains a member. An international lawyer by education, Dick has been engaged in key EU and domestic issues like asylum, immigration and child protection, has led human rights missions to Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and gained extensive managerial experience. He serves on the boards of several human rights NGOs.
