Jo Pettitt is Co-Director of Asylos, with Carolina Albuerne. They joined Asylos in January 2024. Prior to that Jo was a freelance research and evaluation consultant in the asylum and migration sector in the UK. She previously worked for ten years at Freedom from Torture in London, developing and leading their research programme in the Policy and Advocacy Directorate. Before that she worked in the Research Unit at the Immigration Advisory Service in London, producing COI research for lawyers representing people seeking asylum in the UK. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Durham University and an MA in Anthropology of Development from Goldsmiths, University of London, as well as a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work from Bristol University. In an earlier life she worked as a social worker! Jo is based in London.
