Gunnar Lund is a member of the Asylos Advisory Committee and a diplomat and politician. His career includes postings as Ambassador of Sweden to France (2007-2014), Ambassador of Sweden to the United States (2005-2007) and Ambassador of Sweden to the European Union (1999-2002). He has also held positions as Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs (1994-1999) and Deputy Finance Minister (1988-1991) of Sweden. He was a Member of the Swedish Cabinet as Minister for international economic and financial affairs as well as for public administration (2002-2004). Prior to that, he held positions as a civil servant in the Swedish Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs and served as the Finance ministry’s representative to the OECD in Paris. Gunnar Lund was trained in economics, political science, international law and Russian at the universities of Uppsala and Stockholm in Sweden and Columbia University in New York.
